For stained teeth, bleaching is one of the best solutions. It is a very safe and painless procedure without any tooth reduction. Slurry polishing is also practiced where there are minor stains.

Those teeth which have changed colour involving any injury or have gone dark, can be bleached using a home bleaching system which requires the fabrication of special trays. The patient wears the tray with the bleaching agent over the period of 3 to 5 days / till the desired result is achieved.

Teeth which have changed colour due to an over indulgence of certain foodstuff such as tea, coffee, beetlenut / pan chewing, cigarette smoking etc.are bleached either by a home bleacing system or power bleaching which is an in office procedure. This delivers instant results within a matter of 1 to 2 hours.

Stains that do not respond to any of the bleaching methods are corrected by placement of veneers (direct or indirect).

For more stubborn stains, the method of bonding is preferred. It is a relatively simple process in which resins or composites are sculpted onto the tooth to achieve the desired shape and shade.
